The lady sings twice

The fat lady sings twice in 3 days

“Good shot boss!”

The fat lady was singing her lungs out as we neared the end of our hunt, Wilson was winding strongly but I was not getting good vibes this late with so little ground left. I really started to take notice though when he parked himself up and started shaking all over and staring down hill with a vengeance. I followed his gaze and saw movement, it was the head of a stag poking around a tree. The treble two was up, but to my dismay I saw the cross hairs drift onto the tree the split second I released the pressure on my custom Canjar trigger. Gone burger, the fat lady was nowhere to be seen. That was Tuesday, It is now Thursday in a different location and again I can hear the quite distinctive notes of the fat lady when again my dog shakes me out of my dismal reverie . Wilson’s head was rocking up and down dragging in air like a Dyson hoover,He led me down to the creek and up the other side, we then moved up a long spur until he halted again and peered into a bush choked creek, slightly shaking his torso and his attention locked in. I was examining all that I could see but nothing resembling a deer was to be seen. We stayed immobile for what seemed an eternity and eventually I picked up motion on the far bank, a deer was moving parallel to us just under the ridge, the .222 barked and the deer took off uphill, not a good sign I mused. We dropped down into the creek up the other side the dog was searching everywhere, we then dropped into another creek, making my way slowly and examining the ground for paint. Then I noticed Wilson’s tail wagging and he was stationary hovering over our hind on the far side of the creek “good boy”
