New 20″ Shilen S.S. select Barrel .308

Allen J Carr of Paraparam did all the work for me.  He copied the original profile as requested and I had included a S.S. barrel band and screw cut muzzle & refit thread cap and bead blast all within three weeks!  The barrel has a 1:10 twist and I went with a slightly longer length of 20″this time.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with my previous length barrel but I feel that as I am getting a spanking new barrel I may as well have a little leeway in case I stuff up the last inch or so at any time-a sort of insurance you might say.  At present I am working up or should I say down my hand-loads to mirror my original C.D.S. muzzle velocity inputs which involves far less powder charge than what I was previously using- always a fan of that!

Sticking with the 165 grain Accubonds for all things as I am not one for chopping and changing…my only regret is that I didn’t get the blind magazine version of the Macmillan stock when I had the opportunity those years ago.
