More meat on the table! I slipped out in the cold and dark on Saturday morning and entered the bush just on daylight. After an hours travel up the creek I cut up a spur and stumbled on fresh deer slots and some excrement almost straight away. The sign eventually petered out in some hard rocky ground and the trail ran cold, minutes later I heard the harsh cough of the deer barking seemingly less than a 100 meters away. This continued on for at least five minutes as I tried to locate exactly where he/she was. I later pulled the plug and left the deer to its own devices and carried on exploring the vast area of bush I had allocated myself for the day.
Later on in the morning I crossed paths with the above and a single shot from my deadly Vixen .222 secured another load of meat for the freezer.
