This is a story about a fire that started on our property 3.5 years ago. We have had our day in court and the judgement of that court was that in all probability I was the likely cause of it. It does not have to be proven as this is a civil court and really once a fire has started on your property you have a set of skids under your backside and you are shoved on a very slippery slalom run. Our insurance company turned their back on us- you got to love them eh? you can pay your dues for a lifetime until something goes wrong and then all of a sudden they realise you were not covered after all. The end product is that our home will be seized and sold to pay the bills incurred by the fire and we will be left homeless and a burden on the state. The so called victims in this saga have long since been reimbursed and have taken up their lives again.
We on the other hand have had the axe hanging over us for all that time and to top it all off we then get the privilege of having to pay back interest on the debt! all because of the slow moving judicial system.
The joke is if the ash had come from the house fire and not the cabin fire we would have been fully insured…..go figure
Bottom line is cover your arse at all times and admit nothing to nobody- How come it has taken me 61 years to learn something so basic to today’s society? –
