Laid low over Easter Weekend

Yearling where she fell

Yeah I make a point to stay indoors over the Easter period particularly if I am not out in a wilderness setting. You just don’t know who is about locally at this time. (and you don’t want to either!) Unfortunately though the weather was not the best on Tuesday so I had to wait until Wednesday for a decent wx window.

Summer is a now a thing of the past and so the mind naturally focuses on filling the freezer once again. The roar is a good way to start the winter shopping I have found, and when not knocking a stag over there are other rewards such as the teenagers (yearlings). It was one such specimen who I crossed paths with this day. Completely out of nowhere she materialised on a prominent spur I was about to cross. These unsupervised youngsters show up in early summer and again during the roar roaming about seemingly without a care in the world.

The .243 is caliber enough to terminate anyone’s cares however and paired with the 90 grain Nosler Accubond, just about the perfect bush combination.
