With my forty year odd VX1 Leupold playing up lately on my equally old Sako .222 I was coerced into taking the newer Remington 243 out in the bush for a deer for the freezer. The Remington is what I purchased as my client rifle and it has taken a few animals but I have never used it myself on deer until today. Boompha! I was not impressed with the enormous report from the .243 in the bush! that is for sure, it certainly gives the impression of over kill and with the distance less than 5 meters I could have been better armed with a water pistol-never mind
