9.5″ Cham buck taken in soft snow

It took all of 90 minutes to retrieve this head.  I negotiated the terrain with an axe and rifle/knife only, leaving my pack behind and also my camera!!!!! Not so much ice about but the snow was soft and treacherous.  The steep and arduous terrain led to me being extremely cautious, at times waste deep and always falling through the snow to knee depth, then patches of ice on the near vertical sections made life interesting.

The shot was taken eventually at 167 meters with the Accubond 165 grain projectile in .308 cal.

N.B. The Chamois walking the ridge line in the featured image was unrelated to the Cham Buck shot and the photo was taken later in the morning
