Freerange gets a PLB

Not the lightest or smallest or cheapest probably.

Not the lightest or smallest but cheapest

Well  you would wonder after all these years why I would bother now! Well I guess the clue is “all these years” and law of averages  etc.-and I have kinda done things arse about face. Bush hunted in my early years (relatively safe)in the Nth. Island bush- shot all the animals I needed to and now I am in my twilight years enjoying the fruits of Alpine hunting with all its daring- do climbing and ice axes and crampons and such like.

Hey the real reason is not for myself but for my family and if it gives them peace of mind then surely it has got to rub off on me. How the hell though…I often muse… did we spend 6 weeks at a time always by ourselves in the Forest Service without suppressors, plb’s, blaze orange, sat.nav.,fluted barrels, muzzle brakes, flash waterproof smocks, mobile phones, 2 way radios etc etc……….Hell all we did to improve on the guys before us was to put a scope on our rifles and wear a woolen swandri mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

But I guess every older generation says the same ole thing-”Ah you’ve got it so easy these days…why in my day”…………………………….
